For the first time in more than half a century, the historic brewery is releasing a new beer. Monks at the abbey started producing a blonde Trappist in 1920 but discontinued production after just three years.

The brewery was given greater importance through modernization in 1952 and again, when it was rebuilt, in the 1960s. Capacity today stands at around 34,000, US barrels 40,000, hl per year, but to prevent commercialism from destroying the balance of prayer, work, and rest, output is capped at 21,300, US barrels 25,000, hl. The copper brewhouse itself is notable for being among the most beautiful in Belgium. The brewerys three top-fermented beers are simply numbered 6, 8, and 10. All are bottle-conditioned and, in addition to barley malt and hops, ingredients include wheat starch, brown and white sugars, and a small amount of coriander. Colors deepen in shades of brown and complexity increases as alcoholic strength increases in each of the offerings.
